تم تأجيل جلسة مجلس النواب في العراق، التي كان من المقرر فيها انتخاب رئيس البرلمان الجديد، إلى اليوم الأحد بسبب استمرار الخلافات السياسية. وفي وقت سابق، أكد رئيس تكتل بيارق الخير محمد الخالدي أن المجلس ملزم وفق القانون بحسم خياراته لاختيار أي من المرشحين لرئاسة المجلس النواب، مشددًا على ضرورة الالتزام بالضوابط القانونية وحسم الخيارات في الساعات المقبلة. وأوضح أن التنافس سينحصر بين سالم العيساوي ومحمود المشهداني، مع ترجيح اختيار المشهداني.
منذ إقالة الرئيس السابق لمجلس النواب محمد الحلبوسي بسبب دعوى “تزوير” تقدم بها أحد النواب، عقد المجلس عدة جلسات لانتخاب رئيس جديد، ولكن لم يتم التوصل إلى اتفاق بشأن المرشح البديل. ومن المقرر أن تشمل جلسة اليوم انتخاب رئيس مجلس النواب، وستعقد في الساعة الثالثة بعد الظهر. وتقدمت الدائرة الإعلامية لمجلس النواب ببيان أوضحت فيه أن التأجيل جاء من أجل إعطاء فرصة للتفاهم بين الأطراف السياسية قبل دخول جلسة التصويت.
على إثر الحكم بإنهاء عضوية الحلبوسي في مجلس النواب، انتهت رئاسة مجلس النواب بشكل رسمي. وبقليل من المنافسة القانونية مطروحة لان التنافس سينحصر بين سالم العيساوي ومحمود المشهداني ونرجح دفه الاخير رغم ان كليهما يملك علاقات طيبة مع اغلب القوى السياسية.{}
The session of the Iraqi Parliament to elect a new Parliament President has been delayed to Sunday due to ongoing political disagreements. The leader of the Good Tidings Alliance, Mohammed Al-Khaldi, emphasized the necessity of abiding by the legal rules and making decisions regarding the selection of a new Parliament President in the coming hours. He indicated that the competition will be between Salem Al-Issaoui and Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, with the likelihood of Al-Mashhadani being chosen. Since the dismissal of the former President of the Council of Representatives, Mohammed Al-Halbousi, due to allegations of “forgery” brought by a member of parliament, several sessions have been held to elect a new President, but no agreement has been reached on an alternative candidate. The session scheduled for today will include the election of the President of the Council of Representatives and will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon. The parliamentary media department stated that the postponement is to allow for a final opportunity for political parties to reach a consensus before entering the voting session.
Following the court’s ruling to end Al-Halbousi’s membership in the Council of Representatives, the presidency of the Council officially ended. There is minimal legal competition as the competition will be between Salem Al-Issaoui and Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, with Al-Mashhadani being the preferred candidate despite both having good relations with most political powers.
