أعلن المكتب الإعلامي لرئيس مجلس الوزراء محمد شياع السوداني في بيان مقتضب، اليوم السبت، أن السوداني يرعى انطلاق الجولة الأولى للحوار الثنائي بين العراق والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لإنهاء مهمة التحالف الدولي في البلاد. وكانت وزارة الخارجية العراقية، قد أعلنت يوم الخميس 25 من شهر كانون الثاني/يناير الجاري “نجاح” المفاوضات مع أمريكا والاتفاق على تشكيل “لجنة عسكرية عليا”، لصياغة جدول زمني محدد وواضح يحدد مدة وجود مستشاري التحالف الدولي في العراق. في هذا السياق، أكد وزير الدفاع الأمريكي لويد ج. أوستن، الخميس، أن اللجنة العسكرية العليا مع العراق ستنطلق خلال أيام، لبدء عملية التزم بها الجانبان خلال حوار التعاون الأمني المشترك بين الولايات المتحدة والعراق.
وكان رئيس مجلس الوزراء القائد العام للقوات المسلحة محمد شياع السوداني، قد أكد في أكثر من مناسبة البدء بإجراء حوار مع التحالف الدولي المناهض لتنظيم داعش بقيادة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لإنهاء مهمته في البلاد. ويوم الأربعاء 24 من شهر كانون الثاني/يناير، تسلمت وزارة الخارجية العراقية، رسالة وصفتها بـ”المهمة” من الحكومة الامريكية نقلتها السفيرة الينا رومانسكي، مشيرة إلى أن رئيس الوزراء “سيدرس هذه الرسالة”، وأشارت إلى أنه تم خلال اجتماع للمجلس الوزاري للأمن الوطني مناقشة مستجدات الأوضاع الأمنية في العراق.
وتشهد العراق تصاعدا في الهجمات المتبادلة بين فصائل مسلحة والقوات الأميركية منذ اندلاع الحرب في غزة. وتسعى الفصائل إلى الضغط على الولايات المتحدة بسبب دعمها لإسرائيل. تعرضت القوات الأميركية في سوريا والعراق لنحو 150 هجوماً شنتها فصائل متحالفة مع إيران، وشنت الولايات المتحدة سلسلة من الهجمات للرد على ما تتعرض له. رئيس الوزراء العراقي، محمد شياع السوداني دعا إلى سرعة خروج قوات التحالف الذي تقوده واشنطن عبر المفاوضات.
